History of Tulsipur
Tulsipur has a rich history that dates back centuries. The region was originally inhabited by the indigenous Tharu people, who developed sophisticated agricultural practices adapted to the local environment.
During the 18th century, the area came under the rule of the Sen dynasty, and later became part of the unified Kingdom of Nepal under King Prithvi Narayan Shah. The name "Tulsipur" is believed to have originated from the abundance of Tulsi (holy basil) plants in the region.
In the mid-20th century, the Rapti Valley Development Project brought significant changes to the region, including malaria eradication and infrastructure development, which led to increased migration from hill regions to Tulsipur.
